How would you like to teach karate without having a second job and help save a child’s life?

Chuck Norris' KICKSTART Foundation needs full-time, committed Black Belt Instructors of the Martial Arts to reach at-risk youth on a daily basis as part of the school curriculum.   The Foundation has an opportunity for possible  expansion in Texas and needs qualified instructors who are willing to relocate and undergo a background check.

THE FOUNDATION

Chuck Norris’ KICKSTART Foundation was established in August of 1990. It is a program designed to keep kids away from drugs and gangs by giving them a positive activity to belong to. Targeting students in public schools, mostly in the inner city, the program uses the values inherent in martial arts to teach children discipline, respect and responsibility for their own actions.

KICKSTART began in four schools in Houston, TX in January of 1992 with approximately 600 students formerly known as Kick Drugs Out Of America Foundation. The Foundation has served over 50,000 students since then. The Foundation is currently expanding at a rate of three to seven schools per year, providing ample career opportunities for up and coming martial arts instructors.

THE SALARY

KICKSTART offers a competitive salary and benefits package. For more detailed information, call the office.

THE JOB

Instructors teach approximately 150 students in a public elementary, middle or high school. Beyond teaching kicks and punches, instructors are required to instill positive life skills to all students. Instructors are required to organize special activities such as belt presentation ceremonies, after school classes and a summer program for their school. They will also assist and participate in tournaments, fundraisers and other events for the Foundation.

THE SKILLS

Applicants for an instructor position must be at least 21 years of age and high school graduates who hold a first degree black belt or higher. They must have the desire and ability to work with at risk children and be capable of keeping accurate records and writing weekly reports. They must also be able to function in a team environment, which includes a veteran KICKSTART instructor who will be their Team Leader.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Can I get this program in my school?

The Foundation currently operates primarily in  inner-city public schools full time as an elective or PE class.

We are not a franchise, nor are we affiliated with any commercial karate schools. If a school district is  interested in bringing the foundation to its area they can contact the KICKSTART office in Houston, Texas.

2. If I become a KICKSTART instructor, will I have to teach Mr. Norris’ style of martial arts?

No. Mr. Norris believes that all martial arts styles are effective if they include a structured curriculum and teach positive values and life skills. The Foundation requires that you use the teaching method set out by the Foundation.

3. Do I need to relocate to become an Instructor for KICKSTART?

Unless you live in a location where the program is in operation you will probably have to relocate. Our current expansion plans are to target the state of Texas.
